new wave of inspiration

March 29th, 2010

I hit a low with inspiration this past winter. I blame the weather and the fact that I have a major case of senioritis. I’m almost over the stress of college applications/decisions. I’ve gotten into all 5 schools I applied to (NYU, BU, Carnegie Mellon, Rutgers, and Temple). Now comes the hard part…deciding and getting the money to go!

Here’s an old and a new favorite

Aitor Throup

possibly THE coolest fashion illustrator out there.

Cait O’Connor

February 16th, 2010

I was browsing through the Tisch school of the arts website to see what courses they were offering. I came across the work of recent graduates of the Design for stage and film department (lighting, costume design, set design, ect.) and found some gorgeous costume design/illustration by Cait O’Connor.

If you haven’t heard about this, watch this-

read the blog here (proceed at your own risk!…there is some pretty crazy stuff!)

my favorites:

"Can you hold… can you hold my starfish? It doesn’t like it when I’m getting excited. Oh look, it likes you! Its legs are all cree-py cree-py."

"You can’t be a pirate if you haven’t got a beard. I said so. MY boat, MY rules."

"Legs time! Everybody get your legs!"

"I haven’t put on weight. Your eyes are fat."

hehehe :)

Pieces Froids

January 12th, 2010

One of the pieces that defines why I love the piano. Pieces Froides is dark and contemplative, rising and falling with the ebb and flow of some kind of dream. It’s almost like you’re listening in on someone else’s thoughts without them realizing it.

Enough analysis. Listen to this as well-

This is not my favorite performance of the piece, but I could not keep my eyes off of the performer. She’s got an interesting elegance about her. I think I will do an ink drawing of this :)

Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros

November 19th, 2009

Sunday night I saw Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros at First Unitarian Church. It was an awesome show! The lead singer, Alex Ebert, was jumping around all over the place and the whole group made it a really fun show.

anti-smoking commercial. This is probably old, but I feel like posting it. It’s simple, short, and creative.
